Use Lawson's card-eligible checkout
Pay with SolCard at the staffed register for ordinary merchandise, or use it in a Lawson app reservation flow that accepts a saved credit card. Lawson excludes categories like utility bills, many prepaid products, and some Loppi transactions from card payment.
Why SolCard matches Lawson's payment rules
Lawson sells quick-visit staples like onigiri, bento, sandwiches, MACHI cafe drinks, desserts, drinks, cosmetics, and magazines. SolCard is useful for these ordinary store purchases because Lawson already accepts major cards at checkout.
Lawson's official payment guide says credit card purchases are one-time only, with no installment billing and no mixing multiple cards in a single transaction. That makes SolCard a straightforward fit for the fast in-store payment model Lawson already uses.
At Lawson, purchases under 10,000 yen do not need a signature or PIN, while 10,000 yen or more do. That threshold matters for bigger grocery, travel, or bulk snack runs where the normal register card flow is the one Lawson documents most clearly.
The Lawson app lets customers reserve eligible items in advance, pay when the reservation is placed, and later pick up by showing a barcode in store. That upfront billing model is different from a normal shelf purchase and matters if you are planning around seasonal reservation items.
Lawson does not allow credit cards for everything. Gift cards, tickets, QUO cards, stamps, postcards, revenue stamps, utility-bill slips, e-money top-ups, and some Loppi services have their own payment restrictions, so SolCard is best used for the merchandise Lawson actually permits on cards.
Select Lawson locations support tax-free shopping for eligible visitors, but only designated stores and qualifying goods count, with a minimum 5,000-yen purchase before tax. If you are using Lawson during a Japan trip, SolCard can cover the purchase while Lawson's own tax-free rules still decide eligibility.

About Lawson
Lawson is a Japanese convenience-store chain where customers spend on onigiri, bento, sandwiches, MACHI cafe drinks, desserts, magazines, cosmetics, and other daily goods at store checkouts across Japan. It also runs pre-order pickup through the Lawson app, where eligible reservation items are paid in advance and collected later in store. Lawson's official payment pages accept major credit cards for standard merchandise, but not for every category: utility bills, many stored-value products, some Loppi services, tickets, stamps, and other special payments still have separate rules or cash-only handling. Lawson does not advertise direct crypto payments, so SolCard is the practical way to use crypto for the Lawson purchases that already go through a normal card flow.
Lawson payment rules FAQ
Lawson's official payment pages list credit cards, barcode payment apps, and e-money, but they do not list cryptocurrency as a checkout option. For crypto holders, SolCard is useful because it lets you pay Lawson through the same card-style flow Lawson already supports for eligible purchases.
